 Prof. Mike Ward (Shihan - 9th Dan)

SHIHAN Mike Ward 9th Dan Prof Go-Shin Jitsu. Principle of Bolton Go-Shin Jitsu Club with over 50 years experience. Expert in unarmed/armed combat. Specialising in Go-Shin Jitsu & Defendu combat system. Objectives along with my instructors are to teach students in Go-Shin Jitsu so as to give them confidence and peace of mind in the ability to defend themselves in a climate which more than ever before demands it. I still go by the principles of which I have always gone by and that is to run a club as a non profit making commitment. I still pride myself on bringing the very best out of all students who take up Go-Shin Jitsu and enjoy the fact of knowing I have helped one more person to defend themself.

Prof. Kurt Sixsmith (6th Dan)

Prof. Kurt Sixsmith, ROKUDAN (6th Dan). The second ranking member of the club having served for more than 32 years. Prof. Kurt specialises in Kansetsu-waza to complement the combative orientation of the Go-shin Jitsu style.

Sensei Matt Preston (5th Dan)

Master Matt Preston, GODAN (5th Dan). The third highest ranking member of the club having served for more than 20 years. Master Matt specialises in Newaza and Randori to complement the combative orientation of the Go-shin Jitsu style.

Sensei Christine Ward (3rd Dan)

Sensei Christine Ward,  SANDAN (3rd Dan). Highest Ranking Lady Sensei since 1968 with over 24years experience in Go-Shin Jitsu

Sensei Tony Grimshaw (2nd Dan)

Sensei Tony Grimshaw, NIDAN (2nd Dan). The fifth highest ranking member of the club having served for more than 10 years. Sensei Tony is one of the assistent Senseis responsible for delivering the Go-shin Jitsu syllabus to all levels.

Sensei Nilton Braganca (1st Dan)

Sensei Nilton Bragança is a SHODAN (1st Dan) Black Belt in Go‑Shin Jitsu. His martial arts journey began with Taekwondo, where he trained competitively and took part in major national tournaments. Over the past decade, he has expanded his expertise into Go‑Shin Jitsu, earning his black belt through consistent hard work, commitment, and determination. Since becoming a Sensei, he has successfully established a thriving Go‑Shin Jitsu kids’ programme, creating a positive, disciplined, and supportive environment for young students to grow in confidence and skill.

 Sensei John McCormick (1st Dan)

John McCormick is a SHODAN (1st Dan) in Go-Shin Jitsu and the most senior student member at the club. John is a retired woodwork teacher and handyman with 25 years of martial arts experience in Close Quarter Combat and Go-Shin Jitsu. His training has instilled discipline, maintained his fitness and agility, and given him the confidence to protect himself. John is committed to passing on the skills and knowledge he has gained to anyone willing to learn.

Sensei Andy Mann (1st Dan)

Andrew Mann is a black belt, SHODAN (1st Dan) in Goshin Jitsu with over 30 years of experience in martial arts. His background includes close-quarter combat, Thai Boxing, and more than a decade of dedicated Goshin Jitsu training. Andrew brings a practical, disciplined approach to self-defence and enjoys staying active through running and cycling alongside his work as an Electrical Engineer.

Sensei Lucas Grimshaw (1st Dan)

Sensei Lucas Grimshaw, SHODAN (1st Dan) is the youngest Senior Black Belt at the Club, but has over a decade of experience in Go-Shin Jitsu.
